Day 3
Today in class Esme and I finished up our project. We split the work well I think, because last night Esme worked on the diorama and today in flex before class I finished the poster. Esme and I did the finishing touches on the poster and the diorama today in class and started on the artist statement that we finished for homework. We didn't have any conflicts today, we were mostly working and finishing up the poster and diorama and seeing what else we could do to make our work better. Esme and I work well together because we have a lot of the same ideas and we did two drafts before this so that was super helpful. We talk a lot about what we should do for our project which helps the end result a lot and it makes everything very clean and neat. Other than that, there was nothing new today for class, and we are excited to share our poster and diorama tomorrow in class.

Day 3:
Today in class Amanda and I finished most of our project and most of the artist statement. In flex, Amanda worked on the poster by outlining everything in black marker and adding stickers. Then in Chemistry class, we worked on finishing the diorama and we also worked on adding more color to the poster and once we did that we re-read our story to see if there was anything we left out. Turns out that a very small part of out topic was on sharing electrons. While Amanda drew out an example of the process of sharing electrons on the poster, I worked on the artist statement by describing what our poster looked like and why we decided to make it like that. I went into depth on explaining the topic our poster is trying to get across. I spent the rest of class doing that. For homework, Amanda  added some final touches and explanations to the artist statement and we will both read over what we wrote to make sure that it is all good. Amanda and I are a really great team, we work well together and we also are always willing to give up our time to work on the project when the other person can't which I think is a really important quality in our partnership and without it I don't think that our project would be as good as it is. Tomorrow in class we are going to print out our artist statement and complete the reflections.

Final Project: Day 2
Today in class Esme and I worked on our project and worked on figuring out what we are going to do. We decided to do a mix of markers and stickers and collage type of things, but still have the diorama/sculpture to finish up. Today we finished our first draft of our poster and the first sketch of out final draft. Tomorrow in flex I am going to work on outlining the rest of the poster so we can add the finishing touches in class and work on our diorama and artist statement. Esme and I are working well together in class, and today we split up after school to get supplies for the diorama and the poster. I think the only "conflict" we've had is I felt like I wasn't getting enough of the supplies to work on and I didn't want Esme to be stuck with buying the supplies, but we both talked when she was getting everything and figured everything out. I think it is good that we are friends outside of chemistry class because we communicated a lot more then I think I would have with a person that I am not friends with before chemistry class. Overall, I think that we are working really well together and I am super excited to see the final product!

Day 2:
Today in class Amanda and I sketched out our poster on a practice piece and we went over it with working out all the issues we might have had. After we did that then we outlined in pencil our final poster draft. Amanda and I have been working really well together. Amanda and I both contribute ideas and share the workload. Amanda was really generous by offering her entire flex block to work on the poster. WE are a great team and I wouldn't change anything. After school, I decided to go and get some of the materials we needed for the diorama and Amanda decided to go get stickers for out poster. The diorama would be the element Argon. It represents an atom of Argon and because we aren't making a poster about the whole atom and jus the electrons our diorama will on consist of the electrons. I went to an arts and crafts store and bought these small, dense foam balls to represent the electrons and some metal rings that would serve as the energy levels. I took these materials home and spray painted the metal rings black and the electrons yellow.I then drilled holes in the electrons so that the could go on the rings. Tonight, I will start to put the electrons on the rings and connect them together but that depends on how long it takes. Tomorrow Amanda and I plan on finishing the poster and diorama. We are going to color in our poster and finish up everything that needs to be done on the diorama. Hopefully, we won't run into any problems but if we do I think that we will be fine because we have a lot of time to work.

Day 1:
Today in class Amanda and I went over the instructions, guidelines, and rubric for the final project as well as the information provided regarding the topic we chose. We used the last part of class to brainstorm ideas about how we can make our project creative while at the same time explaining our topic in a way that people understand. In order to make our project interesting and creative, we decided to make a collage explaining electron orbitals and photon energy. At first, we wanted to make a sculpture but then we realized that would take a lot of effort and we didn’t have enough time for that. We then thought that we should make a stop motion video but we also realized that like the sculpture, that would take more time than we have. Instead, we are going to make a diorama of an atom made out of clay, wire and foam balls. Our poster will be a mix of drawings and collage. After we finalized our idea we spent the rest of the class period sketching out what the poster will look like on a piece of paper. Tomorrow we are going to start finding and printing images for our collage. On Wednesday when we return to class we will finish finding and printing images and we will start to put our poster together. Then after school, we are planning on going to get the materials for the diorama.

Day 1: Brainstorming
Today in class, Esme and I scanned the rubric and the description document thinking of what we could do. We wanted to do something more creative than just a poster that we drew on, so we thought of a sculpture or a video. Videos would be a really long shot in the time frame that we have in class and our outside of school schedules. We are not allowed to do a sculpture unless we have already finished with our poster. We decided to do a collage, and this class we found all of our notes from that section and started compiling all of them to make a type of infographic-comic-thing. That was most of today, finding the illustrations we were going to use and how we are going to collage it all. We thought that it would be a lot easier to get our point across using a mix of collage and ink because some of the topics we must show are too intricate for cut out photos. Our goal is to finish as much as we can on the poster on Wednesday and try to do the sculpture/diorama on Thursday or in a tutorial. So far Esme and I are working really well together on this and I am excited to work more on Wednesday.
